Spanish Steps For Carthy

It has been announced today that Rapha-Condor-JLT rider, Hugh Carthy, will be moving to the continent next year; having been signed on a two year deal by Spanish green-men Caja Rural-RGA.

Hugh seems destined for big things - mostly mountains.

Hugh seems destined for big things – mostly mountains.

The twenty year old mountain man from Lancashire has impressed in the last year, winning the Tour of Korea amongst impressive performances at Tour of Japan and the recent USA Pro Challenge. Following in the footsteps of a limited pool of British riders to make the step to a Spanish based team, Carthy could be faced with some serious races soon thanks to Caja Rural’s knack for capturing wildcard entries to the big races. Hugh Carthy’s meteoric rise has demonstrated that, as a British rider, academies and development programmes are not the only path to the top of professional racing – SpokenForks wishes him all the best.
